The 2011 Gingerbread City Gala was a Tremendous Success!
Over 350 guests attended the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County’s Gingerbread City Gala on December 1. Honorary Chairman Jeff Moorad, Vice Chairman and CEO of the San Diego Padres was presented with the “Key to Gingerbread City”. He was joined by his wife Jan and sons Justin and Blake to enjoy the gala, along with John Thornton and Sally Thornton, the event’s founding chairman.

The winning structures were absolutely amazing! First prize went to “Victorian Christmas” by Melody Morse, boasting a 5 foot tall all edible Christmas tree. In second place was “Waterfall Home” by Veronica Centeno, a precise replica of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water House, and Amanda Hamilton’s “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” was 3rd place. The Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County provides free programs and services to the more than 50,000 San Diegans and their families who are living with epilepsy, and hopes to raise more than $200,000 from the event. Donations continue to be accepted and gingerbread structures are still available for purchase.
The 2011 Gingerbread City Gala was sponsored by Bob and Sheryl Scarano, Bridgepoint Education, Cooley LLP , Jon & Kathliene Sundt, The John M. & Sally B. Thornton Foundation, California Bank & Trust, The Connolly Family/Goodrich, Qualcomm, Cyberonics, Lundbeck, UCB Inc. and the San Diego Padres.
